SUMMARY

The EMR Trainer position is responsible for first, second and third level trouble-shooting, problem/incident recording, problem resolution and problem escalation for the interconnected operational systems that serve the PCC programs and clients. These systems include E-Clinical Works (eCW) electronic health record software. This position requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to troubleshoot and resolve user-reported problems, support eCW training for clinical and administrative staff, and lead and manage the implementation of special eCW-related projects. The EMR Trainer is a part of PCC’s Provider Services team and reports to the Director, Provider Services.

  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, and exceptional training and facilitation skills.
  • Enjoys solving problems, taking on difficult challenges and finding solutions.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Practice Management and EHR certification a plus.
  • 3-5 years’ experience, including training experience and IT support; experience working in a primary care clinic or other health care setting is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maximum accountability.
  • Ability to document workflow design, identify areas for improvement, and facilitate improvement among a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze eCW features and functionality for problem resolution.
  • Positive working attitude, and an ability to work as a team member with other professionals.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communications abilities both orally and in writing with all levels of clinical, administrative, and support staff.
  • A reliable mode of transportation is required for local travel to client sites to provide hands-on training and support (up to 30%).
  • Ability to provide eCW support during rare evening or weekend hours.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish a plus.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Help Desk Support
  • Provide first-level contact and problem resolution for all eCW users; resolve user-reported problems using available tools, procedures and policies.
  • Provide accurate and timely logging of and resolution for problems in the shared ticketing system. Follow up with tickets once they have been created and update clinic staff throughout the process as troubleshooting steps are completed.
  • Assess and escalate user-reported problems; decide which issues need to be elevated to eCW Support and clearly communicate the problem to eCW in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate monthly online webinars and quarterly in person eCW user group meetings with clinic staff.
Training
  • Support Provider Services team to deliver online and in person trainings to clinic staff.
  • Maintain updated training guides based on new information provided by eCW and/or best practices learned during trainings.
  • Conduct observations of users in their work environment to identify areas for improvement and suggestions for workflow redesign.
  • Conduct in person, one-on-one training sessions to refresh knowledge of users as needed.
